Pokémon and Nike iD

Project Overview

Poké iD is a self-initiated project with Duncan Hoge that showcases Pokémon-inspired Nike shoes created with the Nike iD Builder. Caught up in the Pokémon GO craze, we wanted to capture the trend in culture through popular shoe silhouettes like the Nike Presto and the Sock Darts — just to name a few.

Using Pokepalettes as a guide for colors, with the help of Terrence Ma, we managed to accumulate a handful of Pokémon-inspired shoes overnight to help jumpstart the inspiration process so that others can join in on customizing their own pair of Pokémon-inspired shoes.

Our goal was to design at least one pair of shoes for all gen 1 Pokémons. That’s 151 in total! A running checklist was shared publicly and design entries for the remaining Pokémons were submitted from around the world.

After launching the project overnight, two weeks later, we were written up on Hypebeast. We attracted over 2800 followers on the Pokémon Nike iD Instagram account and had over 50 Pokêmon-inspired designs submitted worldwide.
